Olubadan: Oba Olakulehin, dies at 90

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin •Royal drummers relocate to Ladoja's residence TWO days after celebrating his 90th birthday, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, yesterday, joined his ancestors. Following the news of Oba Olakulehin’s passing, the ancient city of Ibadan was thrown into mourning. Coalition: Atiku, Obi, Oyegun, Amaechi, el-Rufai, others take over ADC

Coalition leaders, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023 election, Peter Obi, former  Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and ex-Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, yesterday took over  control of African Democratic Party, ADC, as the platform  to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Lagos govt to launch digital house numbering July 1, says it’ll enhance revenue, others

LAGOS State government has unveiled a digital address system of street house numbering to be lunched on July 1, 2025. The initiative, government explained, is  to ensure easy identification, ease of business, create more access to critical services and improve revenue for the state.  Special Adviser to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, Dr. Babatunde Olajide, announced the planned commencement of the initiative at  Alausa Secretariat,  Ikeja. According to Olajide, “the digital addressing system, also known as  Lagos Identifier Programme, LIP, will help in different sectors, including housing, transportation, e-cab hailing service, security, emergency response, taxation and planning. He said the technology had not only made Lagos a smart state, but also would have real life impact on people and the government’s ability to respond to residents’ needs. How 20 soldiers, scores of bandits died in clash

*We lost 17 men —Army *Military to deploy 800 special forces to high risk combat zones   NO fewer than 20 soldiers were reportedly killed by bandits, who stormed two military camps in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday while several others were injured. However, unspecified number of the bandits were gunned down by the soldiers during the gun battle that ensued. But the army said 17 soldiers were killed in the encounter . Seventeen corpses of the soldiers were, however, said to have been recovered from the bush while search for the recovery of others continue. This came as the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Hunger, poverty now security threats — NSA, CDS

THE National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, said yesterday that hunger and poverty are the catalysts fueling insecurity, violence and social disintegration in the country. This came on a day President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, declared that Nigeria’s agricultural renaissance had begun as he commissioned 2,000 tractors for nationwide deployment, under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, to boost food production in the country. According to the duo, the two challenges now constitute security threats to the country.
