Chelsea gets £5.9m for winning Conference Cup

*Defeated Real Betis 4-1  The Chelsea Football Club of England received £5.9 million for winning Conference League Cup.  The Blues defeated Real Betis 4-1 at the final of the Conference League Cup. Chelsea recovered from a goal down to beat Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final in  Wroclaw . It brings to an end a four-year trophy drought and is the Blues' first silverware under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership in Enzo Maresca's debut season in charge. Betis dominated the first half and led through an early Abde Ezzalzouli goal. But headers from Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson - both superbly assisted by Cole Palmer - turned the game around in five second-half minutes, before a fine Jadon Sancho goal and a deflected effort from Moises Caicedo sealed the victory. The result means Chelsea have become the first team to win every available European trophy.

How robbers shot me, stole my bike — Commercial motorcyclist

A commercial motorcyclist, Taiwo Adesoye, has narrated how he was shot by suspected armed robbers, who later stole his motorcycle in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The victim, who is currently bearing bullets in his hand, said four armed men attacked him about 8p.m., behind Ogo Oluwa Hospital in the commercial town of Ore. Narrating his ordeal, Taiwo  said he was shot after the hoodlums pushed him from the motorcycle, dragged him to  a corner  and dispossessed him of his motorcycle.  According to him, “On that fateful day about 8p.m., I had just dropped off a passenger and her child in the Ogo oluwa area, hoping to conclude my day’s work. “As I was leaving, I noticed a man approaching a junction. I drove off, thinking that he might hire me for another trip, but he didn’t. “Suddenly, I felt uneasy when I saw the four  men emerging from the bush. Benue: Over 42 killed in herders attack

According to a source in the area, the attack started, Saturday evening, at Aondona community, where no fewer than 20 persons were killed, and spilled over to Ahumbe, Tyolaha and Tse Orbiam, close to a military checkpoint, where over 22 persons were murdered by the marauders.  The source said: "The invasion spilled over to Ahume, where the marauders killed over 10 residents, including a two-year old baby, in their sleep. A Kwara State High  Court sitting in Ilorin, was, yesterday, told by the suspected killer of the final year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Hafsoh Lawal, Bello Abdulrahman, that he killed his facebook lover for money rituals. At the resumed trial, yesterday, Abdulrahman confessed that he personally carried out the heinous act all alone. Abdulrahman and his accomplices were also in court in continuation of the murder charge trial. Cleric Abdulrahman, who said he killed Hafsoh Lawal because he needed human’s hands for money rituals, regretted that if only he had the connection on how else to source for the needed ingredient, he wouldn’t have killed hafsoh. •Father was evading arrest — Police A yet to be identified police officer, shot a 15-year-old secondary school student named Taiwo, while he was en-route to an examination center in the Gbagi area of Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State. The tragic incident occurred when Taiwo was struck by a stray bullet in the lower part of his body. Taiwo's father was driving him and his twin brother to the examination centre for the West African Exanination Council, WAEC, when the shooting took place.  Following the incident, he rushed Taiwo to Welfare Hospital, in Alakia, before transferring him to the University College Hospital, UCH. Eyewitness accounts revealed that the bullet penetrated the back seat of the car where Taiwo was seated with his brother. 2.9m Nigerian children suffering from severe malnutrition — UNICEF

THE United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, has revealed that approximately 2.9 million children in Nigeria are suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition, SAM. UNICEF Country Representative, Mrs. Cristian Munduate, who made this known on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital,  emphasised the urgent need for immediate hospital care to prevent the untimely deaths of affected children. Speaking at the handover ceremony of 40,000 packs of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, RUTF, through the Child Nutrition Fund, Munduate stated that over 40 per cent of children in Kwara State are affected by malnutrition. She noted that the Kwara State Government had contributed $100,000 to access the Child Nutrition Fund, with UNICEF matching the amount. SIX Nigerians have been deported from the United States of America, USA, having been charged with various crimes in the country. It was gathered that their deportation was in connection with a decision by the US government to deport at least 3,000 Nigerians, who had been involved in various crimes in the country. Gunmen, reportedly killed travellers and set ablaze several vehicles on the Okigwe-Owerri Road, in Imo State. The number of human casualties was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
